Discussion:
Kraus Anderson has been reviewing contracts for SandVenture. They found that while the previous contractor removed exterior wood finishes from the contracts when the exterior was switched to concrete block, they never replaced those finishes above windows and doors where the weight of the concrete block could not be carried, for example over the storefront windows.
Kraus Anderson sought bids from suppliers and found that Specialty Systems of Burnsville was the most cost competitive and could deliver the product in a timely fashion for $33,620.
Kraus Anderson also met with the door and hardware contractor, Laforce Inc., previously approved by Council at a cost of $90,616 and found that the vendor could not deliver the product in a timely manner. The vendor had not returned its signed contract and the city had not executed.
Kraus Anderson went back to Twin Cities Hardware (TCH) and found that they were more cost competitive at $81,220 and could deliver the product in a timely fashion that would meet the construction timeline.
