| | | | | | | | Policy/Action Requested: Approve a Contract with Krueger Excavating Inc., for the Lift Station 16 Forcemain Air Release Valve Rehabilitation Project, in the amount of $26,740. | | |
| | | | | | | | Recommendation: Approval of the Contract. | | |
| | | | | | | | Discussion:
In December 2023, city staff identified a leaking air release valve on a sanitary sewer forcemain downstream of the City's main lift station (L16), causing the manhole structure to fill with sewage. L16 and the connecting forcemain transport sewage from the majority of the downtown Shakopee, to the Blue Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant. After further investigation of the leak, replacement of the air release valve was determined to be the appropriate corrective repair.
Quotes for the repairs were solicited and openeded on June 11, 2024. Two quotes were received, and Krueger Excavating, of Prior Lake, MN, is the low bidder in the amount of $26,740. Krueger Excavating Inc., has the capacity and experience for the project and is deemed a responsible bidder. | | |
| | | | | | | | Budget Impact: As this is an unplanned repair, the City's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) does not include a project or budget. The repairs will be funded by the Sanitary Sewer Fund. Cost savings realized from the L16 Levee Rehabilitation Project are sufficient to pay for the repairs within the overall CIP budget for the Sanitary Sewer Fund. | | |
