Discussion:
The Disc Gold Course in Lions Park is very heavily used, even during the winter. The course has been impacted in a number of locations and discs cross pedestrian paths in many locations creating a safety hazard. Confluence in the Lions Park Master Plan recommended relocation of a number of the holes, replacement of the baskets, new boxes and creation of a signature element.
Bill Delaney, Senior Planner Parks and Long Range and also a licensed Landscape Architect, has worked with the Disc Golf community and the original designer to update the course, including creation of a Mando (Mandatory obstacle that a player must pass their disc through) that would be natural stone and steel and be planted with Blue Moon Wisteria that would grow up the steel. The plantings will be tied into the Lions Park irrigation system.
Volunteers will construct the short tees later with provided materials.
Notices will be placed on the course. Work is expected to take two to three weeks dependent on the weather.
Big Pine and Structures Inc. were the most cost competitive of the bids received.
