Discussion:
Killarney Hills was dedicated as a city park with the original Killarney Hills plat. It has remained grass since and is encumbered by a large XCEL Energy tower powerline easement.
Bill Delaney has spoken with some of the adjacent residents after a mailing and most were concerned about noise and privacy. The attached concept plan provides landscaping around the playground.
The Social Pinpoint comments supported the concept plan and the proposed equipment. The general users were slightly older than we typically see and want a playground for the mid-range up to 12 years old. Respondents rated the proposed playground a 4 out of 5 (both pieces).
This park will serve the existing homes, Emblem Shakopee Apartments to the south and the new Summerland Development to the west.
The area under the powerlines will have the grass killed off and will be seeded by the Scott Soil and Conservation District with a pollinator prairie mix.
Once the final plans are completed and budget finalized, we will bring the plans back to Council for approval and bidding.
