Discussion:
In 2018, the City Council approved a city website redesign and professional service agreement with Vision Internet, and we've continued to use Vision (which has since been acquired by Granicus) through the present day.
City staff has researched vendors for a website redesign with the goals of keeping website costs sustainable, bringing the website into compliance with federal accessibility standards, creating a more service-oriented design/layout, keeping the website current with emerging technologies, and improving both the experience of the people using the website and the experience of staff updating the site on a daily basis.
Due to the age of the Content Management System (CMS) currently in use for the City website, staying with Granicus would require an upgrade to the company's most recent CMS, which would double the City's annual website fees. Instead, City staff is recommending we switch vendors and contract with Revize, Inc. for both the website redesign and ongoing website services at an annual cost that will save the City more than $1,000 a year compared to the current plan with Granicus.
Revize, Inc. is an award-winning web development company that has several former Granicus clients as current customers. Their website designs range from simple and minimalistic to colorful and media-focused, providing the City with flexibility for creating a site that fits our specific needs while maintaining compliance with federal accessibility standards. Revize websites also contain more built-in capabilities than Granicus websites (e.g. translation, smart search, customizable Chatbot, accessible image galleries, etc.), which require paid add-ons for several of the features.
