Discussion:
The city retained Confluence as the overall designer for SandVenture in 2021 and they retained a larger team in 2022 to deliver the project. The project cost increased substantially as did the scope. Also, a number of the consultants took on work that was not in the original scope including the design for the installation of a new water main to serve the entire park along with specific design changes to provide better water pressure to the existing restrooms and splash pad. The original estimate was for a $4.3 million project to be completed by summer 2023 that is now $7.3 million and to be completed in September 2024.
