Award for construction of the Valley Crest Trail
Policy/Action Requested:
Award contract to S.M. Hentges & Sons for construction of the Valley Crest Trail in the amount of $147,962.50 plus a ten percent contingency of $14,800 for a total of $162,762.50 and authorize the city administrator to sign the appropriate documents.
Recommendation:
Approve contract.
Discussion:

This project has been in the planning stages for almost 15 years.  Staff and WSB have worked with the impacted property owners, most recently with one to have the least amount of impact on existing trees.

 

This trail will connect several neighborhoods and parks together through a large trail system that includes CH 83..  Long term, it will also provide a pathway to the gravel pit development.

 

The engineers estimate was $162,628.50.  It is currently in the CIP for $225,000.  Construction is being paid for out of Park Development Funds from the Valley Crest development.

Budget Impact:
Paid for out of Valley Crest Park Development Funds.
