Discussion:
The City of Shakopee is proposing to create a zoning use table as a supplement to the zoning ordinance. Currently, a user of the code must look at each individual district chapter to determine if a use is a permitted or conditional use in a specific zone. A table is much easier for staff and users of the code to determine which land uses are allowed in which zones of the city, as well as to communicate other design standards, like setbacks, or lot size.
During the preparation of this text amendment it was discovered that there are redundancies and inconsistent verbage for the same uses in different zoning districts. The public hearing notice for this text amendment will need to be revised to include additional chapters of the code to allow for the modification of language to correct these errors and also to simplify the table.
